Happy New Year!

I feel pretty darn lame this year. What would be an ideal New Year's Eve is a ton of sleep, in a row. Oh joy, the thoughts of joyous sleep, so perfect, and calm. But alas, that will not be happening will it. For our Eve we are taking it easy, visiting a friend's house. I am not sure if we will even make it to midnight. Of course I reflect on the years past, up all night, drink, if not more, in hand, dancing the night away. Maybe again in the future, but until joyous consistent out of reach sleep sets in, nice quite nights at home are the trend. Have a safe and fun New Year's Eve.

We made it!

We made it through Christmas! I never realized how much holidays would take out of a newborn/infant. Ryan is making leaps and bounds in growing and developing, yet the excitement and toll of the holidays take their effect. I had a very tired and cranky little camper who did not want to go to sleep. Pictures coming up when I can get to them.

Happy Christmas almost

Twas the night before the night before Christmas, and all through the house, there were things to be finished, like gift wrapping, food preparations, and sleep. The baby slept a lot through the day and is ready to party now. The snow is building piles upon piles outside. So just in case I do not make it to the blog tomorrow. Have a safe, merry and fun christmas.
Happy Holidays

What a Day

I am exhausted and fading fast. Ryan is asleep, sleeping to the Bears game with his Dad and friend.
What a day today was. It was shot day and Ryan's 2 month check up. The Pediatritian commented that he is perfect, growing and developing well. We are pleased. He weighed in at 11 lbs. and 5 oz. Height: 24 inches. Our boy is growing like a weed. It was also shot day, he received his first round of vaccinations. Poor little guy is exhausted too and sleeping hard.

I am scared of my breasts

Ok, this is not my most shinning moment and I am a bit embarrased to admit that my two breasts now scare me. Who would have ever thought it. I have completely new respect for them. Sure we have had a great relationship all along, no complaints really. However on Friday night that all changed. I had my first clogged milk duct. What Daddy! That was and is not an experience that I choose to repeat. 4 hours of pain. Bad pain. Pain that would not resolve itself. I tried pumping it out, warm compresses, a hot shower, different nursing positions with Ryan, crying, nothing worked. Ryan was fussy because I was worked up and he was not getting enough milk or what he wanted. I tried to settle us into bed. Suddenly the pressure was gone and the clog was unclogged. 4 hours later. Ugh. I have new respect for my breasts. Holy cow.

Full Moon Fever

Now I am not sure when the full moon was or is. I am pretty sure there may have been one last week, however if there was one today I would not be surprised at all. Our house was completely crazy today. Fussy baby, wild dogs, crazy dogs. We t h o u g h t that we found a trick or had a new trick up our sleeve and today I tested it. Ryo likes the sounds of running water. Sink or shower. So today I went for the shower. I placed him in his car seat, sat him in the bathroom with me and took a shower. Wonderful! I was in heaven, a peaceful shower. Then I turned around. Richie for whatever reason in his brain decided he needed to be IN the shower with me! So much for peaceful because the magnitude of Richie's coat equals long showers, plus drying time. So much for the plan, however we do have a clean me and a clean Richie. We both smell nice.

Waiting

I have never seen patience like Richie's patience. He wants Ryan's toy firefly so badly that you can see the gears turning in his mind. He sits and waits and waits and waits for the chance to pounce and claim the toy. This toy has everything that Richie could EVER want. It squeaks, crunches, and a new thing, it jingles. All these wonderful sounds and features in one toy. Talk about the action packed toy. So until he can grab the toy, he sits and waits and wait and waits. (Richie is a good dog and will not take it unless he is offered the toy or no one is watching him or the toy.)

NB vs Size 1

We are at a crossroads again. Or so it seems. I think that the NB (new born) size diapers are getting to be to small, Ryan is out growing them. Yet when we place him in the Size 1 diapers, they are a bit too big. Or at least too wide. We tried to make this change before, but it was a bit to premature. As of today, we are trying again. The tabs on the diaper are basically criss crossed to make the diaper stay on him. He is a tall and skinny boy.
